Kia Motors has finally launched the 2023 Seltos in India. Prices of the updated Seltos start at Rs 10.89 lakh and go up to Rs 19.65 lakh (ex showroom). The SUV’s engines have been updated to aim to meet BS6 Phase 2 and RDE emissions standards, all of which are due to arrive on April 1st.
However, the vehicle now offers a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol and turbo diesel engines. The sporty 1.4-liter turbo petrol engine has been dropped from the range. This might be disappointing for some SUV enthusiasts, as Kia’s turbocharged petrol engine was livelier than most other petrol engines currently available in the segment. However, the Korean automaker is expected to soon replace the old 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with the new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which has already found its way into the Alcazar and the Carens.
While Kia has increased prices by Rs 20,000 for the base petrol variant, all other petrol variants see a uniform increase of Rs 25,000. All diesel variants are now Rs 50,000 more expensive. Alongside the price increase and updated powertrain options, the 2023 Seltos will be introduced with new features and a new gearbox choice.
2023 Kia Seltos: Engine Specs
If we talk about the engines in detail: the 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine delivers 114 hp and 144 Nm maximum torque. The 1.5 liter diesel engine, on the other hand, delivers a peak output of 115 hp and a maximum torque of 250 Nm. Interestingly, the diesel’s 6-speed manual has now been replaced with a 6-speed iMT unit. The 6-speed torque converter was carried over from the diesel. The petrol engine is now available with a 6-speed manual transmission and a CVT automatic transmission.
2023 Kia Seltos: trims and variants
The Seltos 2023 is offered in a total of three variants – Tech Line, GT Line and X Line and seven equipment variants – HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX+ and X Line. The Seltos is one of Kia’s most popular cars. The compact SUV has acquired an iconic character through its practicality and imposing road presence.
In India Seltos competes with Hyundai Creta, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and MG Astor.
