Now Kia India has launched the Carens with the same 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol silent. The company has discontinued the 1.4 turbo due to pending RDE standards. Pricing for the new 1.5 turbo Carens starts at Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Carens with 1.5 turbo petrol engine is offered in four variants – Premium, Prestige, Luxury and Luxury Plus.
The 1.5 turbo petrol engine in the Carens delivers 160 hp and 260 Nm of torque. Transmission options include 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT. There is no manual transmission on offer. No changes were made to the MPV other than the addition of a new 1.5 liter turbocharged petrol engine.

Speaking of the other two engines offered with the Carens – it gets a 1.5 turbo diesel engine that produces 115 hp and 250 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed iMT and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It also gets a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine that produces 115PS of power and 145Nm of torque – transmission options include a 6-speed manual only.
Speaking of features, the Carens features a 10.25-inch touchscreen with connected car technology, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, auto climate control, electrically assisted one-touch tumble for the second-row seat, keyless Go, cruise control, ventilated front seats, cell phone charging, reversing camera, digital instrument cluster and more.
The safety equipment includes six airbags, ABS, ESC, hill start and hill descent control and a tire pressure monitoring system. The Carens competes with Hyundai Alcazar, Maruti Eritiga, Maruti XL6 and Mahindra Marazzo.
