Amazfit recently launched the GTR4. This was a 46mm smartwatch with a large 1.43-inch display. And for many it was too big. Well, if you’re one of them, Amazfit heard your call. It just released the GTR Mini 42mm.
What’s great about the new Amazfit GTR Mini 42mm is that it’s available in pretty much every market. And its price is within reach of almost everyone. That means it costs $120 in the US, £130 in the UK, £11,000 in India and €130 in the EU. But is the watch really worth its price?
All about the Amazfit GTR Mini 42mm
As the name suggests, the Amazfit GTR Mini has a 42mm chassis. The compact form factor makes it lighter and thinner than most other smartwatches. Its thickness is 9.25mm while it weighs only 24.6g. So you can expect to get good overall comfort when wearing it.
The Amazfit GTR Mini 42mm uses 20mm straps. And the great thing about the strap mechanism is that it has a quick release function. The supplied strap is also made of skin-friendly silicone.
Externally, the GTR Mini sports a 1.28-inch AMOLED screen. With a pixel density of 366 ppi, the panel offers exceptionally sharp text and images. And inside, the smartwatch integrates a 280mAh battery. The battery may seem small, but it offers up to 14 days of battery life.
GPS and sports functions
While the Amazfit GTR Mini 42mm is small and cheaper, it performs just as well as the regular GTR. This means you’ll find built-in GPS with a patented circularly polarized antenna. This antenna can greatly enhance signal reception.
The GTR mini even supports 5 global positioning systems. And with continuous GPS tracking turned on, the watch lasts up to 25 hours.

Apart from that, the watch offers more than 120 sports modes. You can also go swimming while wearing it thanks to a water resistance of 5ATM. After workouts, you can share all your data with Apple Health and Google Fit if you want. It even works with apps like Adidas Running, Relive, and Strava.
Health Monitoring System by GTR Mini
The Amazfit GTR Mini 42mm has a 24/7 heart rate and SpO2 monitoring function. One of the highlights of this system is that it’s fast enough to give you an accurate report in just 15 seconds. Yes, Amazfit really did a great job with the one-tap measurement feature. There are tons of fitness features too.
Apart from that, sleep tracking can detect light, deep and REM sleep. It also keeps an eye out for any breathing issues you may be facing while sleeping. And when you wake up, the Amazfit GTR Mini greets you with your customizable morning update.
Customization, operating system and colors
Like its bigger siblings, the Amazfit GTR Mini runs on ZeppOS 2.0. Despite not being WearOS, the operating system is really user-friendly. And as mentioned, it works with many third-party apps.
The OS allows you to add membership and club cards via the Zepp app. You can also create robust shortcut widgets that give you a quick overview of important information. For example, the watch face can display your to-do list.
Apart from that, the operating system of GTR mini will display all the notifications coming in on your phone. However, you cannot use it to answer calls as it does not have a built-in microphone.
Nonetheless, the Amazfit GTR mini is now available in three colors. You can get it in Misty Pink, Ocean Blue, and Midnight Black. Overall, it’s a great pick as one of the best smartwatches of 2023.
