In the second game of the play-off phase of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023, Islamabad United meets Peshawar Zalmi in Eliminator 1 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Thursday (16 March). The winner of this competition will take on defending champions Lahore Qalandars in Eliminator 2 to take on Multan Sultans in the PSL 2023 final on Sunday (19 March).
Islamabad United just failed to finish in the top two after losing their last game of the league stage to Babar Azam’s Zalmi by 13 runs. However, Shadab Khan-led Islamabad would figure chances of winning the Eliminator clash with Hasan Ali and Fazalhaq Farooqi in top form with the ball. Zalmi was the target of two successful run hunts topping 240 runs, successfully returning to beat Islamabad in their final league game in Rawalpindi to not only qualify for the playoffs but set the eliminator with the same opponent.
Previously, Zalmi skipper Babar Azam scored his 8th T20 century, becoming the joint second player to accomplish the feat alongside Aaron Finch, Michael Klinger and David Warner. Chris Gayle tops the list with 22 hundred.
